There are wedding bells – or Belles to be precise – in Emmerdale, as one couple are set to get engaged this Christmas, but fans will likely be aware that it can only end in tears.

The soap’s boss, Laura Shaw, has confirmed that Belle and Tom King (James King) will have announcement to make to their loved ones in a festive episode, after previously hinting towards the proposal.

Recent scenes saw Tom lose his temper with Belle when she first rejected his request for her hand in marriage, and he lashed out, knocking her into a table and causing her to cut her head.

Following this incident, the couple seem back on track, although in so many cases, things like this don’t end up being isolated, despite profuse apologies from Tom.

However, the focus will be on Christmas joy as they look to the future, whatever that may contain.

‘Belle and Tom are going to move on in their relationship,’ Laura confirmed to Metro.co.uk.

‘ I think we’ve already hinted a little bit that there may be more going on in their relationship, but what we will see is them building their it.

‘Wedding bells come in on Valentine’s Day, of course, because we’re a soap so we have to do weddings on Valentine’s Day. But is it going to be their happy ever after? We’ll have to see.’

Given what’s happened, this seems very unlikely. But it’s not the only big drama coming to the show this Christmas.

Another couple is taking the strain, as Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) finds her feelings for baby Ivy strengthening.

‘We’ve seen Rhona having a really tricky time recently,’ Laura mused. ‘We’ve recently seen on screen Lucy died just after the birth of baby Ivy.

‘What we’ll see going forward is just Gus starting to struggle a little bit with his grief and with being a single parent to little Ivy and that’s going to hugely impact on Rhona and Marlon’s Christmas.

‘How is Marlon going to cope if Rhona wants to reach out and help baby Ivy? Will Gus let Rhona help with baby Ivy?

Mack’s (Lawrence Robb) despicable behaviour drove a desperate Chloe (Jessie Elland) to go on the run with her baby son. But the young mum, who only recently suffered a brain injury, is vulnerable and at risk.

Mack and Charity (Emma Atkins) planned to keep their affair under wraps until Christmas as they felt Chloe was too fragile for Mack to end their relationship.

But as things escalated and they start sneaking off for sex behind Chloe’s back, Charity began getting itchy feet that Mack – not known for his reliability – would not follow through with his promise.

But for once he was adamant to sticking to his guns to prove his love to Charity, and he ended up dumping Chloe out of the blue.

He later cruelly snogged Charity in full view of a hurting Chloe. Something in her snapped, and she vowed to block Mackenzie from ever seeing Reuben again by hot footing it to France.

Given that Mack cheated on her, left her to die, promised to dedicate his life to her, then fired up an affair behind her back, it’s not surprising Chloe fully intends to crush him.

But now that she’s carried out her plan, her desperately loyal sister Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) has no clue as to where she truly is and is worried for her safety.

Mack believes her to still be nearby and has been searching high and low for signs of her and his son. While Mack is out searching for Chloe, Amy fears she’ll never hear from Chloe again and that the betrayed mum will follow through with her plan to leave the country.

Mack confronts Amy and Matty for news, but they have nothing to share. They’re shocked by his ragged appearance and his rock bottom mood. Will Amy’s loyalty start to change?

Charity is sure they will get Reuben back, but she tells Mack he needs to play the game and appease Amy.

She is clearly the gatekeeper to Chloe’s whereabouts, or at least will be the first person Chloe will contact. But does Amy even know where Chloe is or has she really left for good?

Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) has finally seen the light in Emmerdale and has chosen to leave the village after Mackenzie Boyd’s (Lawrence Robb) awful behaviour.

It was being dumped by Mack just so he could reunite with Charity (Emma Atkins) that fuelled Chloe’s anger and hatred towards him. Initially, after Mack left Chloe to die in the Super Soap Week crash, she returned to the Dales believing they could start afresh and be a strong family unit for little Reuben.

But while Chloe got excited for Christmas, Mack was busy telling Charity that they could be together again.

After her relationship with Mack ended, Chloe decided to plan a move to France.

Ignoring Amy’s (Natalie Ann Jamieson) comments about how she belongs in the village, Chloe packed a few bags and sorted Reuben’s passport, fully intent on leaving without Mack ever finding out.

However, after Sarah (Katie Hill) visited Chloe and Amy, she made her way up to Butlers to unleash her anger towards Mack.

Sarah then made a few comments about Mack’s plan to take Chloe and Reuben on holiday which left him confused. Of course, Chloe had lied and told Sarah she had Reuben’s passport because of Mackenzie’s idea and as soon as Sarah mentioned that to him, the penny dropped.

Rushing outside, Mack did his best to try and stop Chloe from taking Reuben. He attempted to open the back door but slipped and fell to the floor, giving Chloe enough time to jump in the drivers seat and dash off.

As Chloe left, Mackenzie ran after the car, eventually giving up when the distance between them became too great.

We know this storyline isn’t over yet, as Chloe’s dad will arrive to make Mackenzie’s life a lot worse.

Discussing what’s coming up, Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw told Metro.co.uk: ‘The Charity, Mackenzie and Chloe love triangle has been bubbling away for 18 months or so now, so at Christmas we’ll see that reach a bit more of a crescendo where Mackenzie pushes Chloe to her absolute limit and what we’ll see is her reach out to her father for help.

‘Obviously we know from previous stories that Chloe’s dad is not someone to be messed about with. We know that he was quite controlling with Chloe and that people are afraid of him, so obviously when she reaches out to him what we will see is him helping Chloe in his own unique way.

‘Is Mackenzie going to be able to talk his way out of this one? I’m not sure, we’ll have to wait and see but I think it’s pretty sure to say the repercussions of that are going to be long-lasting into the new year and beyond.’

After doing some digging, Caleb Milligan (William Ash) was given the perfect opportunity to destroy Kim Tate (Claire King) in Thursday’s (November 23) episode of Emmerdale – but he never took it.

Don’t get us wrong, the old version of Caleb absolutely would’ve jumped at the chance to see Kim’s life in tatters, but the present day version of Caleb is one who’s actually worked hard to rebuild relationships with people he previously hurt and doesn’t want to jeapordise that.

This week, Caleb started to wonder whether Kim was involved in Craig Reed’s (Ben Addis) death.

A few weeks ago, Kim’s horse Ice bolted and attacked Craig, which caused him to die.

Cain (Jeff Hordley) arrived at the scene shortly after and made a pact with Kim, agreeing to keep the truth a secret to prevent them from heading behind bars.

Unaware that Cain was involved, Caleb was determined to get to the bottom of things.

But just as Caleb got very close to doing something about his suspicions, Cain told him what really happened.

Cain said to his brother that he could head to the police station and finally get the revenge he’s longed for, but that would also mean saying goodbye to the family unit he’s built up since arriving in the Dales.

This left Caleb with quite the predicament.

On one hand, reporting Kim would be the perfect chance to get his own back after she left Frank Tate – Caleb’s dad – to die, but family is also incredibly important to Caleb, someone who grew up in care homes and never really had strong connections with his loved ones.

After Caleb agreed to keep quiet, Cain headed to the pub and updated Kim.

While Cain believed his sibling wouldn’t say anything, Kim was certain it wouldn’t be long until Caleb was using this knowledge against the both of them.

But outside, just as Kim got into her car, Caleb approached and backed up Cain’s words.

He made a sly comment about getting her one day, and Kim responded by saying Caleb should hope she isn’t on horseback when/if that occurs.

It appears the feud has been put to bed for now, but given Kim and Caleb aren’t going to enjoy a drink in the pub together anytime soon, there’s every chance we could see them go head to head again in the future.

Emmerdale’s Gemma Oaten was joined by EastEnders star Max Bowden and many more at the SEED Gala in London.

The 39-year-old former Yorkshire Dales resident, who developed anorexia at 10 before struggling with bulimia, took to the carpet on Wednesday evening for the event at Goldsmith’s Hall in London.

Gemma rose to fame for her parts in the ITV soap world, playing the role of Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale and Isla Haywood in Coronation Street. 

The star’s disorder prompted her parents to set up the SEED (Support and Empathy for people with Eating Disorders) charity to help others with the disease.

Gemma, who wowed and a turquoise gown, was also joined by This Morning regular Ranj Singh and Common As Much star Anthony Barclay.

This comes after the Rachel Breckle actress revealed she was recently in hospital after a fall.

She detailed the incident on her Instagram, telling followers she sustained an injured elbow.

During an update, she said: ‘Then I fell. Literally. Really badly on the walk home with Ruby on Wednesday night. I then went to A&E and discovered I’ve got some nice little chips of bone off my elbow and now I’ve a glamorous sling & a heap of painkillers.

‘Why am I sharing this? Well, to say – that’s life! It’s got it’s ups & downs, but it’s how you handle it that is the game changer.

She continued: ‘I’m so blessed for this week. I’m so grateful for the moments, the friendships & the support of all I’m striving for. But most of all I’m proud of myself & how I have reacted.

‘As the quote goes “our greatest glory is not in ever falling, but in rising every time we fall” CONFUCIOUS.

‘I’m grand, I’m feeling so positive and empowered and considering the girl I was – I am bloody delighted with the open, authentic, vulnerable, bounce back ability woman I am becoming.

‘Life is a journey. Keep learning. You matter.’

Back in June, actress Gemma recalled the incredible moment when she reunited with a lady called Joyce, who cared for her when she was diagnosed with anorexia at 11 years old.

Within the social media post, Gemma wrote: ‘Joyce looked after me when she was a carer at the unit I was admitted to with #anorexia at 11yrs old & given 24hrs to live.

A place that many who were meant to be helping me, treated me like I was nothing. Treated in a barbaric way, doing more harm then good [sic].’

She also said: ‘I tell the story of Joyce whose kindness I believe kept me alive [sic].’

Ever since Caleb Miligan (William Ash) made his Emmerdale arrival, fans have been wondering when we might meet his mysterious wife.

After all, she has been mentioned on and off, it was surely inevitable we would see her at some point.

The time has come – Ruby is about to make her debut and you can expect Caleb’s life to be thrown into chaos as a result.

Caleb is currently partaking in an affair with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), simultaneously betraying his nephew, and Tracy’s husband, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

He is even starting to display fledgling signs of obsession, getting jealous and possessive of his secret flame.

Tracy can’t resist the excitement, and there is no denying that there is a passionate spark between the couple.

It’s going to end in tears, and things will get worse when a big twist at Christmas will see them caught out by someone.

So Ruby’s debut couldn’t come at a worse time for philandering Caleb.

Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have announced their split after five years of marriage.

The pair who met on the set of Emmerdale originally began dating in 2007, and have three children, Buster, 12, Bowie, six, and Ace, three.

They shared a joint statement on Instagram to confirm the separation, which presented a united front.

‘It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children. For their sake, we would appreciate privacy at this time,’ Charley’s post read.

While Matthew, 43, posted an almost-identical paragraph but swapped his own name for 35-year-old Charley’s name.

Their social media activity first sparked fans’ suspicions that they had perhaps called it a day.

Matthew – who recently left Emmerdale after 18 years in the role of David Metcalfe – unfollowed his wife on Instagram, before re-following, according to The Sun. He has not commented on any of her recent pictures or posted about her in over a year, and Charley’s grid has also been Matthew-free.

A source told the publication: ‘Charley and Matthew were in very different places in their lives when they first got together.

‘Three kids later and with new careers in the mix, everything has changed and perhaps they are no longer the unit they once were.’

Last week, Charley admitted to ignoring life. In her Instagram Story, the former Debbie Dingle actress posted a cryptic message which read: ‘Ignoring life and all the jobs I need to do. Also, I want more piercings.’

Matthew proposed on Christmas day in 2009, and after a brief split in 2013, the couple eventually tied the knot on February 10, 2018, although the wedding came as a surprise to their guests.

They were joined by 100 guests at Ripley Castle near Harrogate who thought they were attending Charley’s 30th birthday – when in fact they were getting married.

‘I’m not a big one for marriage, to be honest. It’s not that important to me,’ Charley told This Morning in 2019.

‘But this just felt a good way to do it, because it took the pressure off of everybody asking me a million questions – “What’s your dress like? Who’s going to be your bridesmaid?” – and I didn’t want any of that.

‘The attention is also too much. It just felt like a lot of attention.’

Both actors have left their roles on Emmerdale in recent years. Now, Matthew is playing Buddy the Elf in the newest revival of the musical, based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell.

Meanwhile, post-Emmerdale Charley bagged herself a role in ITV police series The Long Shadow which dramatises the five-year manhunt for the serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, commonly known as the Yorkshire Ripper.

Passions are flaring in Emmerdale next week, but there is a crisis for another couple as a child remains missing.

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) remains frantic over the disappearance of Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) with their baby son Reuben.

As he gets more and more agitated, his search for answers leads to a showdown – but Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) remains sure they can have Reuben home.

Meanwhile, Caleb Miligan (William Ash) can’t help himself when it comes to his illicit affair with Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh).

The pair continue to take risks – and it looks like it is about to come back to bite them…

Monday November 27

It’s David’s birthday but the day is awkward for Victoria and Jacob as speculation is high regarding who Jacob’s new girlfriend is.

Gabby is the prime suspect but David worries that the subject is taboo because of Leanna, leaving Jacob feeling even worse.  

Despite the gossip Jacob and Victoria can’t resist the opportunity to use the empty house for a bit of fun. They have to scramble when David unexpectedly arrives home.

Seeing straight through Jacob’s excuses, and intending to greet the ‘mystery’ partner, David is shocked when Jacob tells him he was right – it’s Gabby. Upstairs Victoria listens in, cringing.

After David leaves, Jacob reassures her Gabby will go along with his lies but Victoria’s panicking because she’s lost a bracelet David gave her.

Meanwhile in the pub David teases oblivious Gabby and she’s left baffled. Finding Victoria’s bracelet on the floor at Jacob entices her into a relieved kiss.

But, unbeknownst to them, dumbstruck David has seen them through the window. 

Mack returns home from another night of searching. Amy fears she’ll never hear from her sister again.

Desperate Mack confronts Amy and Matty again for news, who are shocked to see him so low.

Charity is resolute they will get his son back. 

Failing to connect with Laurel and the family, Suni is shocked when Amit decides it’s time for him to return to India. 

Gail is pushing Ryan to be more open with his feelings 

Tuesday November 28

There is still unfinished business between Caleb and Tracy.

Before long under the guise of a business transaction, Caleb admits his attraction to Tracy and they have a passionate kiss. 

The next day Suni attempts to convince Laurel to change her mind regarding her attitude to Amit whilst also to change his Dad’s mind about leaving.

Laurel tries to find out from Nicky why Amit punched him, neither aware Amit is watching suspiciously, worried his secret could get out.

Charity warns Mack they all want the same thing, and he should try to stay on Amy’s good side.  

Wednesday November 29

Tracy’s flustered when Caleb asks her to meet him back at his place after the pub.

Suni books a night out with Nicky, Gabby and Ethan for the next day.

But with Suni untrusting whether Nicky has kept the secret he dumps him, but is instantly regretful. 

A pep talk from desperately hopeful Charity reassures Mack that they will find Chloe and Reuben.

Thursday November 30

Tracy’s determined to put all thoughts of Caleb behind her and convinces Nate to take an afternoon off together.

At Cain’s birthday drinks, Tracy’s flushed to have Caleb sitting so close to her, and finds an excuse to head into the toilet corridor. Caleb follows her and the passion fizzes and they kiss.

Almost caught by Cain, they head back through to the Woolie Bar, Caleb uneasy to see Tracy go back to Nate.

Viewers were taken aback when the mystery of who ‘murdered’ evil rapist Craig was answered – with Ice the horse unmasked as the culprit.

We’re still recovering from this somewhat bizarre turn of events, but Kim Tate (Claire King), who left Craig to die along with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), has been keen to put events behind her.

Good luck, though, cos this is a soap and the show’s boss Laura Shaw has confirmed to Metro.co.uk that the truth is about to explode.

But how will Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) react when she learns what her boss and friend did?

‘Lydia is still struggling after her horrific ordeal at the hands of Craig and we’ll see that continue forward,’ Laura shared.

‘Lydia and Sam will find out what happened that night – that will all come out. How is Lydia going to cope with that news? How will Sam cope with that news?

‘It’s going to really test Lydia and Kim’s friendship which I know we all absolutely love. We’ll see in the new year if they can get their friendship back on track.

‘Similarly for Sam and Lydia – are they ever going to get through this? Hopefully the new year’s going to bring some new hope for them.’

They certainly deserve it!

While Cain also played a key part in Craig’s fate, he is very much occupied elsewhere across the coming months, leading to an almighty clash with a close relative.

Since Aaron (Danny Miller) returned, he has been bitter and angry with the world, picking conflict and causing chaos in his wake.

It will lead to an explosive showdown with Cain, which will send shockwaves through the Dingle family.

Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins)’s relationship has been a guilty secret in Emmerdale for some time now. Jacob first expressed feelings for Victoria when she almost killed him by giving him food that contained nuts, triggering his allergy.

Of course it was an accident, but a near-death experience made Jacob see things in a new light and it wasn’t long before Victoria realised that she felt the same about him. Initially they resisted their feelings for each other, but eventually gave in to their passion.

They’ve had to keep things secret, though, because they know it would break David (Matthew Wolfenden)’s heart if he found out as he still has feelings for Victoria himself.

Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) and others quickly worked out that Jacob had a new girlfriend, and have been trying to get him to talk about who she might be.

Speculation is high on that topic in an upcoming episode, leading to some uncomfortable moments for Jacob and Victoria as it’s also David’s birthday and they don’t want him getting close to the truth.

Everyone thinks the secret girlfriend is probably Gabby (Rosie Bentham) anyway, but David calls a halt to the speculation believing that Jacob is sensitive about having a new girlfriend out of respect for his former girlfriend Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger) – who died at the hands of Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).

Jacob and Victoria decide to go back to the empty house for a bit of alone time, but it’s not long before David unexpectedly comes back home, causing them to panic.

David knows that Jacob has got somebody in the house and announces that he’s going to greet Jacob’s mystery girlfriend. Panicking, Jacob tells his dad he was right – his mystery girlfriend is Gabby!

Jacob reassures Victoria after David has gone that Gabby will go along with the lie and will cover for him – and that’s soon put to the test when David finds Gabby in the Woolpack and can’t resist teasing her about her new romance with Jacob.

Will Gabby go along with it, as Jacob hopes, or could David discover that his former step-son has been lying to him?

Caleb Milligan (William Ash) took some time off from lusting after Tracy (Amy Walsh) in Wednesday (November 22)’s episode of Emmerdale to do a bit of sleuthing.

The target of his suspicions was Kim Tate (Claire King) – the woman who was previously the focus of an elaborate revenge plot by Caleb when he first came to the village.

Kim was previously married to Caleb’s father, Frank Tate, and he blamed her for Frank’s death. His plan to destroy her by taking her home, her business and anything else he could get his hands on away from her backfired when Kim realised what he was up to.

Since then, Caleb and his son Nicky (Lewis Cope) have settled into the village and steadily become a part of village life, building a business alongside Nate (Jurell Carter) and Cain (Jeff Hordley) and being accepted into the Dingle family. Caleb has even drunk from the Dingle welly, so you know he’s officially a Dingle.

But an encounter with Kim in the cafe at the start of this episode proved that his previous animosity to Kim Tate hasn’t gone away.

His suspicion was piqued when he asked after Lydia (Karen Blick) – who is currently staying at Home Farm as she tries to deal with the aftermath of being raped. When Caleb mentioned rapist Craig (Ben Addis) he noticed Kim’s odd reaction.

Later he saw her riding her horse in the village. ‘Is this the horse that killed Craig?’ he asked. Of course everyone knows it’s the horse that killed Craig, but the story was that the horse had got loose at the time and Kim was nowhere near it.

Kim was unsettled by this encounter, as she told Will (Dean Andrews) later in the Woolpack. Will insisted that ‘He can’t find owt if there’s nowt to find.’

But Kim wasn’t so sure and made a phone call to Cain.

Viewers will recall that Kim was riding her horse when she came upon Craig, who was staggering in a field after being brutally beaten up by Sam (James Hooton), with Cain egging him on.

Kim was in no mood to help Craig because of what he’d done to her friend Lydia. Desperate for help, Craig grabbed the horse’s rein, which caused the animal to rear up and kick him. Kim saw that he was nearly dead as he lay on the ground.

At that point Cain arrived and between them they came up with a plan to leave Craig to die and make it seem that neither of them had had anything to do with it.

Their story had satisfied the police and it seemed they were in the clear, but with Caleb nosing around Kim felt spooked.

‘We can’t have him finding out what really happened to Craig,’ she told Cain on the phone. It was really not the best plan to make this call in the Woolpack – as Caleb was listening.

Back at home, Caleb mulled things over. He told Nicky that something was not adding up about Craig’s death, and that Cain had something to do with it.

Nicky said the best plan was just to ask Cain straight out about it.

‘Maybe I should,’ Caleb said. Is he about to discover the truth? And what will he do with the information if so, given that his brother is as guilty as his arch enemy?

There’s a lot going on for Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) in Emmerdale currently, starting with the very recent discovery that her ex-husband, Gus (Alan McKenna), had fraudulently used the embryos that they’d had frozen when they were a couple and having IVF.

When Gus previously asked if he could use the embryos because he and his current wife were desperate to have a child, Rhona eventually refused. She was unable to cope with the idea of a child with her DNA being out in the world somewhere.

So when Marlon spotted Gus and his heavily pregnant wife Lucy at the hospital, it was a shattering blow.

Distraught, Rhona went to thrash things out with the couple, but while she was venting Lucy went into labour. Rhona drove them to the hospital where Lucy gave birth to a baby girl – but died soon afterwards.

In Wednesday (November 22)’s episode Rhona feared that a similar tragedy was about to occur when her pregnant work colleague Dawn (Olivia Bromley) suddenly clutched her tummy in pain.

As Dawn sat on a bench outside, a concerned Rhona insisted on going to get village GP Liam (Jonny McPherson) to come and see her.

Liam checked Dawn over, but Rhona kept panicking and saying she should call an ambulance to be on the safe side. Eventually Liam said he was satisfied that Dawn had just been having perfectly normal Braxton Hicks pains.

Later Rhona admitted to Liam that she’d over-reacted because a ‘friend’ had recently died in childbirth.

Currently Gus blames Rhona for Lucy’s death, arguing that it was Rhona turning up on the doorstep and arguing that sent her into labour.

Rhona feels guilty about that, but overriding everything she’s struggling with the knowledge that a child who is part of her is alive in the world – and currently she isn’t able to see her.

‘She instinctively wants to be part of that baby’s life,’ Zoe Henry told us.

‘Out there is somebody who is a part of you and you want to know that person and be there for that person. Even if it’s just the inquisitive stuff – does she look like me? Has she got my eyes, has she got my hair? You want to be involved.’

Teasing a ‘busy Christmas’ coming up as far as this storyline is concerned, Zoe said, ‘I think there’s a long road ahead, really. Nothing is ever straightforward or linear, is it, but I think this is a really tricky situation for everybody involved.’

Following the news of Moira Barton’s (Natalie J Robb) upcoming Emmerdale storyline, fans are wondering if the mammoth secret she’s keeping might have something to do with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

Mackenzie arrived in 2020 as Moira’s brother.

A few months later, we learnt more about their past, establishing that Moira left the family home when Mackenzie was around 6 years old.

Moira decided to leave after taking the blame for their mother having an affair.

This caused a troubled Mackenzie to believe Moira was abandoning the family, hence the reason for their difficult relationship when he first arrived.

While things are a lot better between Mack and Moira now, things could change dramatically when Moira’s new story begins.

‘Moira is going to make a big confession to one of the villagers,’ producer Laura Shaw told Metro.co.uk

‘It’s a secret from her past that she’s going to reveal. She does it in a way to try to help the person that she’s talking to, but how is that person going to react when they find out Moira’s deepest, darkest secret?’

‘If they blow it, it could threaten Moira’s whole life,’ she warned.

And what is the secret fans are currently speculating?

Mackenzie might be Moira’s son.

One Twitter/X user was suspicious recently while watching Moira with Chloe (Jessie Elland) and baby Reuben, who is Mack’s son.

They wondered: ‘The way Moira keeps going on to Chloe, that she will always be a part of their lives, gives me feeling Ruben is actually her grandson.’

Emmerdale spoilers for next week follow with a first look at all the unmissable drama in our jam-packed picture gallery above.

The week in question is quite a big one for the ITV soap, with a search for a missing child, a huge exit and a big secret exposed.

It’s David Metcalfe’s (Matthew Wolfenden) birthday but the attention is on Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), who is dodging questions about who his mystery girlfriend is.

As the investigation continues, Jacob allows everyone to believe that Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) is the woman in question, hoping he’s put the speculation to rest.

Shock scenes ensue, however, as he and Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) spend the afternoon together, with David witnessing the pair kissing through the window.

Rocked by a number of shocks, David decides to leave the village he’s called home for over a decade.

Elsewhere, a search is underway for Reuben after Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) absconded with the tot in a bid to punish Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

Mack is seen at his wit’s end in upcoming scenes, having spent the whole night searching for Chloe.

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is quick to reassure him that they will get Reuben back and encourages him to stay on Amy Wyatt’s (Natalie Ann Jamieson) good side.

Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), meanwhile, struggles to resist temptation where Caleb Milligan (William Ash) is concerned and, at Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) party, the two share a passionate kiss in the toilet corridor at the Woolpack, with Cain nearly catching them in the act.

But is their secret set to out?

Emmerdale airs these scenes between Monday, November 27 and Friday, December 1 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Another character is set to leave Emmerdale during a period in which major characters Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) are also departing.

Soon after Amit Sharma (Anil Goutam) arrived in the village we discovered a terrible secret about him.

The businessman had come over from India following the death of his brother Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel), to see his son Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) and try to navigate the tricky situation that he’d been revealed to be Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson)’s biological father shortly before Rishi died.

But soon it became clear that this wasn’t Amit’s first visit to the Dales when he had a panic attack after walking into Rishi’s former home, Holdgate. He confessed to Suni that he’d been there when Rishi fell down the stairs after an altercation in which he grabbed Rishi’s shirt shortly before his brother lost his balance.

As Rishi lay at the bottom of the stairs Amit realised that his brother was already dead. Knowing that he couldn’t help him and that he could be suspected of deliberately killing Rishi, he decided to leg it.

Suni naturally found it difficult to process this information and confided in his boyfriend Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope). After Nicky made some pointed comments in Amit’s direction Amit lashed out at him, punching him in the face.

Not wanting to tell Caleb Milligan (William Ash) the real reason for the punch, Nicky spun a story about how it was motivated by Amit being homophobic – an accusation which meant that Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and Jai soon decided to break off contact with Amit.

Coming up, Suni is shocked when Amit tells him he’s leaving and going back to India. Suni doesn’t want his dad to go and tries to convince him to stay, while also begging Laurel to reconsider her attitude to Amit.

Laurel questions Nicky about what happened when Amit punched him, trying to find out whether it really was a homophobic attack.

Amit is watching this, and he worries that Nicky might tell Laurel the real reason he punched him and the secret about Rishi will be out.

Suni is also worried about what Nicky may or may not have said and dumps him, regretting it instantly.

It seems that Amit’s time in the village has caused nothing but anguish, secrets and betrayal. Can he make amends with his family before he goes?

Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) is in for a rough ride with Chloe (Jessie Elland) being set on getting revenge by causing as much pain as possible in Emmerdale.

Her first attempt at revenge on Charity (Emma Atkins) and Mack ended up with her left for dead at the bottom or a ravine.

This time around she’s being much more successful in hitting him where it hurts – his son.

Chloe was destroyed when Mack finally chose Charity over her, which happened pretty much just moments after he’d pledged to devote his life to Chloe when she collapsed.

His flip-flopping caused some serious damage, and Chloe packed up her things and their son, and ran.

Mack immediately set out to find her, but with no joy. She does not wish to be found.

With Chloe still on the run, Mack returns from another fruitless night of searching for her. He confronts Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and Matty (Ash Palmisciano) for news, but both know nothing and are shocked to see how bedraggled he is.

Charity is a little more positive – she believes wholeheartedly they’ll get Reuben back, but she warns him they’ll only do it if he keeps Amy on side. Amy may well know more than she’s letting on, and the only way they’ll get her to crack is by playing nice.

But with Mack so broken, he’s struggling to play the game.

New year in Emmerdale is set to see the arrival of a new character, played by none other than Coronation Street legend Paula Lane.

Fans of the ITV soap may remember Paula as the feisty Kylie Platt, who tragically died in husband David’s (Jack P Shepherd) arms in 2016 after being stabbed.

Now, Paula is swapping the cobbles for the Dales as she takes on the role of Ella Forster – a caring and compassionate character who is set to fall on difficult times.

Ella will meet Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) at a Veterinary Ball she is attending with partner Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), and will end up losing her job after sticking up for the salon owner.

Not willing to let herself be down for too long, Ella soon finds herself in a chance encounter with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) who offers her an opportunity.

As Paula settles into life in the village, it isn’t long before she starts to turn heads…

Speaking about her new role, actress Paula Lane said: ‘I’m so excited to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Everyone has been so welcoming and I can’t wait to start a new chapter playing the role of Ella.

‘I’ve already heard there are big plans for her and I can’t wait to see her navigate a new life in the village and hopefully make some friends!’

Producer Kate Brooks was equally as enthusiastic about the new addition to the cast, as she teased more about what viewers can expect from Ella.

‘Ella is a complex and multi-layered character who comes to the village and certainly makes an impact,’ she revealed.

‘Ostensibly she’s a good, moral character, but is there more to her than meets the eye?

‘We are absolutely thrilled to welcome an actor of Paula’s calibre to the show and we can’t wait to have her light up our screens.’

Paula will begin filming this month, with Ella set to hit our screens in January. Frankly, we can’t wait!

We recently discovered that Caleb Milligan (William Ash) and Tracy Robinson (Amy Wyatt) had shared a passionate kiss in Emmerdale. In fact, two passionate kisses.

When Tracy went round to Caleb’s to read the riot act about Caleb’s treatment of her newish husband Nate (Jurell Carter) at work, Caleb grabbed her and kissed her. After pulling away she thought for a moment and then rushed back for another kiss.

Since then they’ve been gazing lustfully at each other across a crowded Woolpack while Tracy insists is married and she’ll never stray, and Caleb says he is going to respect that.

But actions speak louder than words in soaps and their body language is clear. It’s an affair waiting to happen.

In upcoming episodes the two once again have to meet up for work reasons, but Caleb takes the opportunity to tell Tracy how attracted he is to her – and they end up kissing passionately again.

Once again Tracy regrets this and tries to pretend that Caleb means nothing to her by persuading Nate to take the afternoon off so they can spend some time together.

But it’s Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) birthday so there are Dingle drinks at the Woolpack – meaning that Tracy is once again forced to endure the magnetic proximity of Caleb.

It’s all a bit too much to deal with and it’s not long before Caleb is following Tracy out to the corridor by the toilets (so romantic!) and they have trouble keeping their hands off each other and almost kiss.

This is obviously extremely risky behaviour in a pub full of Dingles and they’re almost caught by the birthday boy himself, Cain.

Imagine the ructions that would occur if Cain knew that his brother was carrying on a secret affair with his son’s wife. It would test Cain’s recently established brotherly bond with Caleb to its limits. In fact, the thought of Cain trying to wrestle with the moral ramifications is actually quite a juicy idea.

But for Tracy and Caleb almost being caught by Cain should be a wake-up call. Unfortunately Caleb can’t keep his eyes off Tracy as they head back to the bar and she reunites with Nate.

And when Caleb leaves the pub, Tracy follows him.

It’s going to end in tears one way or another.

It’s painful to watch one of Emmerdale’s most popular couples, Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick), enduring such a hard time and not being able to be together.

Lydia’s world was turned upside down when she was raped by her former friend Craig (Ben Addis). She recently told Kim (Claire King) that her feelings about the rape have been complicated by her shared history with Craig. As the father of her baby Toby, who died, there’s part of Lydia that can’t hate Craig although she loathes him for what he did.

She told Kim that there was no way she could explain her feelings to Sam when she couldn’t make sense of it herself.

She and Sam were just about holding on together but then she discovered that before Craig was found dead Sam had savagely beaten him up. She’d begged him not to take things into his own hands and felt he’d made everything worse.

She’s been staying at Home Farm while she tries to work through how she’s feeling and in Tuesday (November 21)’s episode she was helping Dawn (Olivia Bromley) to assemble some flat-pack furniture for the new nursery.

Dawn talked about her difficult past as a drug addict and said she was glad all that was behind her and it was possible to move on from traumatic events.

So when we saw Lydia back at the Dingles’ later on, it looked like Dawn’s words might have made her think it was time to go back to her family. That’s what Sam thought, too, when he came home and found her tidying up like she always does.

She was rearranging some flowers in a vase and went to throw one away because the stem was broken.

‘Still bonny, though,’ Sam said and we knew he was talking about his wife, or their relationship, as well as the flower. ‘Can’t throw away summat that lovely.’

It’s about as poetical as Sam Dingle gets, and he followed up by apologising for what he did to Craig, saying he was angry and he wasn’t thinking about Lydia like he should have.

He said he’s done a bad thing and wanted to make it up to her and be the person she needs.

Lydia might have been slightly swayed by all this but she said she still wasn’t ready. She repeated that she needed to get through it on her own and was determined to do that, no matter how long it takes.

Then she left – and Sam sank to the kitchen floor, sobbing.

Is there any hope for Lydia and Sam’s relationship?

The aftermath of Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) dumping Chloe (Jessie Elland) to go back to Charity (Emma Atkins) started to play out in Tuesday (November 21)’s episode of Emmerdale – and it was a difficult time all round.

Charity and Mack’s first morning back together started badly when they were faced by an angry Noah (Jack Downham) and Sarah (Katie Hill).

‘He lives next door!’ Noah pointed out. Sarah was also angry on behalf of her friend Chloe. At least Moses (Arthur Cockroft) was pleased to see Mackenzie and gave him a big hug. Sarah and Noah told Charity they had absolutely no plans to hug Mack themselves.

After words from Charity Noah grudgingly agreed to accept the new situation but had a warning for Mackenzie: ‘She’s worth 10 of you,’ he said. ‘Don’t screw it up.’

Meanwhile Moira (Natalie J. Robb) had popped in to see Chloe and was devastated when she heard the news that her brother had broken Chloe’s heart by going back to Charity. ‘You will always be family to me,’ she promised her.

Showing Moira out later, Chloe was horrified to see Mack and Charity in the street kissing and she rushed at Charity and gave her a hefty slap. She was raging and had to be held back by Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) otherwise she’d have done more.

Later, Charity decided to try to make peace with Chloe and went to see her. ‘Mack is my husband,’ she pointed out, and the pair of them rehashed the whole story of how Mack had slept with Chloe after he and Charity had argued, and then Chloe had moved into Charity’s home while she was pregnant and kept the secret of who the baby’s father was.

Charity urged Chloe that they all had to put the past behind them and move on, most importantly for the sake of Reuben. She mentioned that it would be nice for Chloe to have some weekends to herself while Reuben was with his dad. Moira had earlier also assumed that Chloe would happily agree to a co-parenting arrangement with Mack.

And this gave Chloe the idea of how she could inflict the most pain on him. She told her sister Amy that she and Reuben were leaving to start a new life away from the Dales. Selling her engagement ring would get them started financially and then they’d manage somehow.

Amy was sceptical about the whole plan, but Chloe wasn’t thinking about the practicalities or what it would really mean for her and her baby. She just wanted to hurt Mackenzie and Charity as much as possible.

‘They’re both going to be miserable when Mackenzie is constantly pining after Reuben,’ she vowed.

‘The son he’s never going to see again.’

Emmerdale star Jessie Elland has opened up on her real-life friendship with ‘incredible’ co-star  Emma Atkins.

The pair’s respective characters, Chloe Harris and Charity Dingle, have been involved in a chaotic love triangle with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) – with Chloe planning revenge on the pair after Mack finally chose to reunite estranged wife Charity.

He destroyed his marriage to Charity (Emma) by sleeping with Chloe (Jessie) after an argument with Charity in the aftermath of her suffering a devastating miscarriage. Charity lashed out and told him to spread his seed elsewhere, and the stupid man went off and literally did exactly

Speaking ahead of the big showdown, actress Jessie praised her relationship with Chloe telling us: ‘Emma is incredible to work with, we get on far better than Chloe and Charity do (thank goodness).

‘She’s such an amazing actress, I’ve learnt so much from working with her.’

She added: ‘I’d jump at any excuse to keep working together so I’d be all for a storyline of them both teaming up to bin Mackenzie off.’

This comes after Jessie revealed what lies in store in the run up to Christmas.

‘In all her excitement for their first family Christmas, Chloe decorates the house early to surprise Mackenzie; even buying him a Santa outfit to wear for Reuben,’ the actress said.

‘It’s at this moment that Mackenzie blurts out that they are over. Chloe is beyond crushed and knows instantly that Charity is involved.’

Determined not to give Mack the satisfaction of seeing her upset, she brushes him off in a cold manner, only to cry to sister Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) later.

‘Chloe tries to hide how devastated she is by acting cold and numb, but this is only a bid to protect herself and her pride, as soon as she is alone, and with Amy we she just how utterly bereft she is: it’s one of her biggest fears finally realised.

However, Chloe can’t keep her cool in front of Mack for long, especially when she spots him kissing Charity in the middle of the street, as Jessie explained.

‘I think she’s embarrassed being taken for a fool; to think that Charity and Mackenzie were together, or at least planning to be while she was wilfully oblivious and trying to play happy families.’

Emmerdale’ producer’s boss Laura has been spilling the beans about what’s to come over Christmas and the New Year for the most dramatic village in the Dales – and it’s looking like it could be a traumatic time for Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).

Chas has had a fairly quiet year by Emmerdale – and her own – standards. Since her scandalous affair in 2022 with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) and Al’s subsequent death, Chas has focused on repairing the strained relationships in the village that her affair caused.

Her marriage to Paddy (Dominic Brunt) was too damaged to mend, and Paddy has since moved on and is happily settled with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley). Chas and Paddy are now friends again and doing their best to make sure their daughter Eve (Bella James) is happy and secure.

The recent reappearance in the village of her son Aaron (Danny Miller) has been a headache for Chas as Aaron has made it clear he blames his mother – and the affair with Al – for causing the death of his sister Liv (Isobel Steele).

A showdown between mother and son recently saw Chas washing her hands of her son because of his violence towards Liv’s widower Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).

Now show producer Laura Shaw has suggested that the upcoming drama for Chas might be the thing that finally reunites her and Aaron.

‘We know that her and Aaron have got quite a strained relationship at the moment and Aaron’s really pushing his mum away, so this could be the story that maybe brings those two back together and bonds mother and son again,’ she told us.

The new storyline is being kept under wraps for now, and Laura would only hint at what’s to come for Chas.

‘There’s a huge story coming up for Chas in the new year that’s going to be shocking for all her family and friends and villagers around her,’ she teased.

Chas has recently found herself as the victim of heartless thug Harry (Robert Beck), who used Chas to get revenge against Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb (William Ash) by bundling her into the boot of his car, bound and gagged.

When we last saw Harry he was escaping fairly unscathed from being run over by Aaron – but there’s unfinished business there. Could he have something to do with Chas’s huge new story?

Or could the ‘shocking for all her family and friends and villagers around her’ line hint that Chas will suffer a serious illness?

As when Marlon (Mark Charnock) had his stroke and with the storyline about Faith (Sally Dexter) who died last year, Emmerdale always shows the ripple effect that an illness has on the people surrounding the person who’s ill. A serious illness could certainly make Aaron reassess his relationship with his mum.

Basically there are numerous ways that soaps can inflict drama on their characters. As Laura told us, what’s in store for Chas is ‘all to find out in the new year.’

‘Tis the season for Emmerdale Christmas spoilers to drop, and producer Laura Shaw has been obliging us by filling us in on what we can expect in the way of drama from the Dales over Christmas and the new year.

Some of the information she gave us was pretty explosive – and it spells bad news for many of the villagers.

 ‘There’s going to be tragedy in the village in January that’s going to affect two of our most-loved families,’ she told us.

This automatically brings the Dingles to mind as they’re never far away from the drama and (let’s face it) there’s a Dingle in almost every family in the village. 

Laura wasn’t giving any details just yet, but Emmerdale has previously given us massive storms, plane crashes, helicopter crashes, floods and numerous car crashes so brace yourself for anything. 

What would say is that the tragedy has a massive impact on both families.

‘It’s ultimately going to tear friendships apart and change the dynamics of one of those families forever,’ she warned.

Elsewhere, we know that Lydia (Karen Blick) will continue to struggle in the aftermath of her horrific rape ordeal, for example, but there’s a glimpse of hope for her’s relationship with husband Sam (James Hooton) which has been severely damaged over his actions in going after rapist Craig (Ben Addis) against her wishes.

Kim Tate (Claire King)’s part in Craig’s death will also come out. ‘Lydia and Sam will find out what happened that night that we saw in the big Dingles week with Kim,’ Laura told us. 

‘How is Lydia going to cope with that news? How will Sam cope with that news? It’s going to really test Lydia and Kim’s friendship which I know we all absolutely love.

‘For Sam and Lydia – are they ever going to get through this? Hopefully the new year’s going to bring some new hope for them.’

Laura also predicted an interesting festive period for Mack (Lawrence Robb), Chloe (Jessie Elland) and Charity (Emma Atkins) as Chloe’s dad – who will be a new character to the village – gets involved.

‘When she reaches out to him what we will see is him helping Chloe in his own unique way,’ Laura said. ‘Is Mackenzie going to be able to talk his way out of this one? I’m not sure, we’ll have to wait and see but I think it’s pretty sure to say the repercussions of that are going to be long-lasting into the new year and beyond.’

With big new storylines also confirmed for Moira and Chas Dingle (Natalie J Robb and Lucy Pargeter), it’s going to be a very busy 2024 in Emmerdale.

As we approach the festive season, all of the soaps are ramping up the excitement in an effort to keep us entertained as we digest our turkey and mince pies, and of course Emmerdale is no exception.

The show’s producer Laura Shaw has been teasing about what’s to come over Christmas and into the new year, and, while some of it is a continuation of long-running storylines such as the Charity (Emma Atkins)/Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb)/Chloe (Jessie Elland) triangle (which is set to ‘reach a bit more of a crescendo’), there is a brand new arc for fan favourite Moira (Natalie J Robb)

‘Moira is going to make a big confession to one of the villagers,’ the producer told Metro.co.uk.

‘It’s a secret from her past that she’s going to reveal. She does it in a way to try to help the person that she’s talking to, but how is that person going to react when they find out Moira’s deepest, darkest secret?’

Well, consider us properly intrigued by that. If Moira is trying to help someone by sharing an experience from her past, the secret that she’s going to tell will very much depend on the person she’s talking to and there are too many variations to even speculate about.

We know that a huge secret in Moira’s past is that she murdered Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney). She pushed Emma off a bridge after Emma goaded her over the death of her daughter Holly (Sophie Powles). Moira’s son Adam (Adam Thomas) took the blame for the killing and went on the run.

Could this be what Moira dredges up from her past? Or will it be something that we currently have no idea of?

It’s not going to be something trivial, that’s for certain. Laura told us that Moira is taking a huge risk in confiding the secret to this other person.

‘If they blow it, it could threaten Moira’s whole life,’ she warned.

Elsewhere, there’ll also be a new element in this story as Chloe’s dad finally arrives on the scene. ‘The repercussions of that are going to be long-lasting into the new year and beyond,’ Laura told us.

Another storyline which has already got underway is Rhona (Zoe Henry) being rocked by the discovery that her frozen embryos have been stolen and there’s a new baby in the world – Ivy – who shares Rhona’s DNA.

‘We’ll see Rhona pushed to breaking point and she’s forced to make a really risky decision that threatens to affect her whole family and possibly change the dynamics of their family,’ Laura predicted.

There’ll also be massive repercussions stemming from Tracy (Amy Walsh) and Caleb (William Ash)’s attraction to each other, which we’ve seen the beginnings of when they kissed.

The time has come for David (Matthew Wolfenden) to hang up his apron as Emmerdale’s favourite shopkeeper, but instead of it being down to an exciting new adventure, he’s leaving under a dark cloud of familial betrayal.

David is blind to two huge and painful secrets, his dad’s degenerative disease, and his son’s relationship with his ex. Both equally as devastating.

It’s David’s birthday, which should be a joyous occasion, but instead it’s a weird one as he celebrates with son Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) and his ex Victoria (Isabel Hodgins). He doesn’t realise they have been secretly sleeping together behind his back. David is aware Jacob has a new girlfriend, he just doesn’t know who – but he’s determined to find out.

He has his suspicions Jacob’s new fancy lady is Gabby (Rosie Bentham) and Jacob is more than happy to let him believe that.

Despite the fact David is clearly trying to play detective, Jacob and Victoria have no faith in his sleuthing skills and feel confident enough in making use of an empty house for some naughty shenanigans. They don’t bank on him coming home early, but Jacob attempts to throw him off the scent by claiming it’s Gabby hiding upstairs and not Victoria.

David doesn’t buy it – at first – but Jacob works his lie-telling magic to get David to leave. They breathe a sigh of relief, but Vic realises she’s lost the bracelet David gave her and if he finds it, the game is up.

They hunt for the item of jewellery and land upon it on the floor. In their relief, the pair embrace in a passionate kiss and thank their stars they’ve been so lucky.

Or have they? Their kiss takes place near a window – through which David sees everything.

With betrayal etched on his face and his world disintegrating before his eyes, David decides to leave all the hurt behind and opts to say farewell Emmerdale for good.

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) will rue the day he broke Chloe Harris’ (Jessie Elland) heart as her sinister dad set to make his long-awaited Emmerdale debut.

Chloe, as fans will recall, was kept under surveillance by her crime boss father when she first appeared in the ITV soap, with the criminal employing people to watch his daughter’s every move and report back to him in prison.

There was little known about the man in question, other than the fact that he was not to be missed with, with subsequent scenes seeing him kick her out when she revealed her desire to break free from such control and captivity.

The storyline in question was later dropped, with producers later rewriting Chloe’s backstory somewhat to reveal that her biological mother was actually Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton), who worked for the dangerous criminal.

With Kerry now playing a parental role and Chloe a firm fixture of the village, it seemed as though we might never find out what the deal with her father was, but that’s all set to change.

Chloe, as viewers know, has had her heart broken by Mackenzie, who has realised that, despite months of trying to convince himself otherwise, he’s still madly in love with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

Monday’s (November 20) edition of the ITV soap saw Mack break the news to her, with scenes later this week seeing Chloe set out to get revenge, cruelly slapping Charity for no apparent reason before setting off with Reuben, insisting that Mack will never see his son again.

Mack is hopeful that he can track Chloe down and stop her from making a huge mistake in taking his little boy away from him, but little does he know that this is just the beginning of what’s to come.

Discussing what’s coming up, Emmerdale boss told Metro.co.uk: ‘The Charity, Mackenzie and Chloe love triangle has been bubbling away for 18 months or so now, so at Christmas we’ll see that reach a bit more of a crescendo where Mackenzie pushes Chloe to her absolute limit and what we’ll see is her reach out to her father for help. 

‘Obviously we know from previous stories that Chloe’s dad is not someone to be messed about with – quite a dark.

‘We know that he was quite controlling with Chloe and that people are afraid of him, so obviously when she reaches out to him what we will see is him helping Chloe in his own unique way.

‘Is Mackenzie going to be able to talk his way out of this one? I’m not sure, we’ll have to wait and see but I think it’s pretty sure to say the repercussions of that are going to be long-lasting into the new year and beyond.’

Consider us intrigued and also very worried!

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has been a man caught between two women for a very long time on Emmerdale.

He destroyed his marriage to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) by sleeping with Chloe (Jessie Elland) after an argument with Charity in the aftermath of her suffering a devastating miscarriage. Charity lashed out and told him to spread his seed elsewhere, and the stupid man went off and literally did exactly that.

When it was revealed that Chloe was pregnant after that one encounter he tried to ignore that as he mended his relationship with Charity, but after baby Reuben was born his priorities seemed to shift.

Deciding he wanted to be with Chloe and be a proper family with Reuben, it always seemed that it was his son who was the real pull in holding that relationship together. Mackenzie even slept with Charity on the day of Reuben’s christening.

It was the fateful car accident that involved Mack, Charity and Chloe that revealed the truth to all of them. Faced with a split-second decision over whether to save Chloe or Charity, Mackenzie reached for Charity and pulled her out of the car before it fell off a cliff.

Guilt and the fear of losing Reuben have kept Mack with Chloe, but recently he had to admit to Charity that his feelings for her have never gone away. He was about to tell Chloe when she suffered a fainting spell and was advised by doctors to take things easy for a few weeks. Mack therefore decided he would keep the pretence going until Christmas.

But unable to wait even for a few weeks, he told Charity that today (November 20) would be the day he would tell Chloe he was leaving.

To make things even more poignant and upsetting for Chloe, she’d decorated the house for Christmas as a surprise for him. Even little Reuben was decked out in wee reindeer antlers. Chloe was excited about their first Christmas together as a family.

Mack was unable to play along. ‘I can’t do this – us,’ he said. ‘I’m not spending Christmas with you. I can’t spend any more time with you.’

‘Tell me it isn’t Charity,’ she said – and obviously he couldn’t, because it is.

A heartbroken Chloe mustered her dignity and told him to get out of the house, with a withering parting shot.

‘You have just been one long disappointment,’ she told him accurately.

Mack went to Charity and it should have been a moment of happiness for both of them, knowing they could finally openly be together. Under the circumstances they weren’t in any mood to celebrate.

While Mack laboured under the guilt of how he’d just brutally destroyed Chloe’s life, he was possibly also wondering what it would mean for his relationship with Reuben. Charity was worried that Chloe would try to take revenge and wouldn’t just forgive and forget.

Chloe, meanwhile, was telling Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) that she’d known all along that something was bound to happen and she’d ignored it.

She sobbed in her sister’s arms, her life in pieces.

Shocks have piled upon shocks for Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) recently in Emmerdale. When she found out that her ex-husband, Gus (Alan McKenna), had forged her permission to use the embryos that they’d had frozen she went to confront him.

Gus’s heavily pregnant wife, Lucy, went into labour on the doorstep in the middle of this argument and Rhona drove the couple to hospital. Soon after she learned that Lucy had given birth to a baby girl.

Before Rhona could even start to process that there was another shock – Lucy died soon after the birth, leaving Gus understandably devastated.

In Monday (November 20)’s episode, Rhona couldn’t help herself from going to the hospital. She managed to get into the ICU where the baby was, although the nurse she spoke to wouldn’t reveal anything about baby Ivy’s condition because Rhona isn’t family.

Of course in a very real sense Rhona is family, as the baby is biologically her child. Zoe Henry told us that it’s natural that Rhona would be curious about her.

‘Out there is somebody who is a part of you and you want to know that person and be there for that person,’ she said.

‘Even if it’s just the inquisitive stuff, you want to be involved. So there’s no way she can leave this alone, I don’t think. The natural curiosity of things – does she look like me? Has she got my eyes, has she got my hair? Even if you go at it at that level there’s still a pull. Whether she’d admit it or not, I think she instinctively wants to be part of that baby’s life.’

Gus spotted Rhona in the hospital and was furious that she’d turned up. With Lucy’s death still very raw, Gus blamed Rhona for the chain of events that led to his wife going into early labour and accused her of trying to get ‘revenge’ for him stealing the embryo.

Later, Marlon (Mark Charnock) found Rhona sitting in her car. ‘I’ve done something stupid,’ she told him.

Rhona talked to Marlon and Mary (Louise Jameson) about what had happened and about her feelings for the baby.

‘I’ve seen her. I know her name. And I can’t forget,’ she insisted as Marlon tried to convince her to ‘Stay away and let go.’

‘Rhona is lucky in that respect that she’s got her mum and Marlon on hand and they’re both being very supportive and trying to guide her in the right direction, which is not always easy with someone like Rhona,’ Zoe told us.

The storyline will take more twists and turns, which Zoe said she was looking forward to.

‘The longer this story goes on the more I realise there are no heroes and there are no villains. Everybody’s a victim in this. Everybody is struggling to make sense of it and do the right thing. That’s what’s interesting about it for me, the conundrum of that.’

Emmerdale star Amy Nuttall has revealed the heartbreaking news that her mum Elaine has died, four months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The actress, who is best known for playing Chloe Atkinson on the ITV soap, shared the devastating news on social media.

Amy, 41, uploaded a series of snaps of her mother during the course of her life on Instagram.

She penned: ‘My heart is beating loudly whilst I write this. Yesterday I said goodbye to my beautiful dear mummy. She was diagnosed in July with a glioblastoma (grade 4). To say it was the biggest shock would be an understatement. 

‘Together with my wonderful family, we helped care for her to the end where she died in my arms as I lay beside her on 30/10/23 at 5.05pm

She continued: ‘She humbled us all with how she handled this cruel diagnosis… never complaining, always smiling and bringing her daft humour to the fore every day. Mum, you were my rock. Always. My best friend. 

‘I’m not sure how I’m going to do life without you but I know you’ll always be with me to carry me through as you always did. Thank you mummy… you gave me the best days I ever had ❤️xxx #glioblastoma #braintumour #rosemer’

Fans flocked to share their condolences with the star, with one person replying: ‘I’m so so sorry for your loss. I lost my wonderful father in September and I’m utterly devastated. I understand the pain and shock and fear and numbness you’re feeling right now. Be kind to yourself.’

Fellow Downton Abbey actress Joanne Frogart replied: ‘Darling, I am so so sorry. Sending you all my love. 💔’

Earlier this year, the Emmerdale star and her Broadchurch actor husband Andrew Buchan 44, were at the centre of split rumours following the latter’s alleged affair with Leila Farzad.

However, Amy – who shares two children with her spouse – was said to have taken Andrew back under the condition he sticks to strict rules.

It’s now been reported that Amy has once again ‘kicked Andrew out’ and that their relationship is ‘over for good’.

So far we’ve seen Emmerdale lawyer Ethan Anderson (Emile John) as a responsible, sensible character. He’s even been accused of being ‘boring’ by former lover Marcus Dean (Darcy Grey) because of his quiet, uncontroversial approach to life.

Well, he is a lawyer after all and standards must be maintained, but in upcoming episodes we may be about to see a different side of him emerge.

‘A certain situation is a catalyst for Ethan completely having his life implode on him,’ Emile John revealed to Inside Soap magazine. ‘In the beginning it’s out of necessity, he has to do certain things to get himself out of trouble.’

While Ethan’s actions are at first a reaction to the events around him, Emile suggested that it could trigger quite a change in his character.

‘I do wonder if he started taking a liking to being a bit more of a bad boy… I’m looking forward to filming that!’

We saw earlier this year that Ethan’s dad Charles (Kevin Mathurin), Emmerdale’s vicar, also has a darker side to him. This surfaced when his own father, Victor (Eddie Osei), was released from prison and arrived in the village to try to reconcile with his wife Claudette (Flo Wilson) and become part of the family.

We discovered that Eddie’s criminal past had led to terror for Claudette and had blighted Charles’s childhood, so when Charles saw an opportunity to get rid of Victor he took it by planting stolen goods on him. Soon afterwards, Victor died of a brain aneurysm.

Charles has let his mother and son carry on believing that Victor was guilty. Emile John told us on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards that this secret was still bubbling away in the Anderson family.

‘I think [Ethan] will find out,’ he revealed to us. ’As soon as he finds out that Charles has framed his own dad to make his dad look like a criminal, he’ll definitely have some words to say about that, I think.’

Whether that’s the incident that brings about Ethan’s switch to ‘bad boy’ we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s in his DNA to be hiding a more violent side underneath his calm exterior – just like his dad and his granddad. Emile is looking forward to the new storyline.

‘As much as I’ve loved playing Ethan so far, it’s been kind of the same vibe, so I’m looking forward to playing something different,’ he reckoned.

‘As humans we’re multi-faceted, so it’d be really nice to play a darker side to Ethan.’

He said he was also hoping for another romance for his character. ‘There’s a lot of options in the village!’ he said.

‘At the moment in the scripts there aren’t any clues as to who he might be with. It could be Nicky (Lewis Cope) or Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana)!’

With Nicky and Suni currently in a relationship with each other, could Ethan be about to break them up? Emile isn’t giving any clues, but he does hope romance is on the cards for Ethan one way or another.

‘Being in a relationship brings out more vulnerability on the character, which I think is important,’ he insisted.
