Aldi are at it again, taking inspiration from Brits’ favourite foods and bringing bargain price dupe versions to their shelves.

The budget supermarket has launched the Double Cheese Burger and the Chicken Burger Southern Fried, which fans of McDonald’s are bound to love.

Both ‘fakeaway’ burgers cost just £1.79, which is a welcome price in the lead up to the expensive Christmas period – it also makes them 69% cheaper than similar McDonald’s burgers.

In a press release, Aldi said that shoppers ‘can enjoy the McDonald’s McCripsy for less’, with their offering made using crispy chicken tenders, creamy mayo and lettuce in a sesame topped bun.

Meanwhile, they said their cheeseburger can ‘rival the chain restaurant’s Double Cheeseburger’. It features two beef patties, fresh lettuce and tangy cheese and brioche buns.

In the past, Aldi has been praised for their take on fast-food items.

Earlier this year, someone posted on X a picture of Aldi hash browns, writing: ‘These taste just like the ones from McDonalds.’

Another said the hash browns were ‘chefs kiss’.

So, hopes are high for the new burgers, which many McDonald’s fans will likely want to try.

Want fries with that? Aldi shoppers can complete their McDonald’s fakeaway fix with Aldi’s Takeaway Style French Fries, which come in at £1.49 for a pack of two. They even come in the recognisable red fries packaging.
