Carlos Alcaraz is bidding to add the ATP Finals title to his impressive CV. But if he is to succeed, the Spaniard must do it the hard way.
He’s drawn in a group which features Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Andrej Rublev and if he advances from the round-robin stage and reaches the final then in all likelihood he will have to face Novak Djokovic in a blockbuster final in Turin as the tennis season reaches its climax.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a successful campaign, winning Wimbledon in the summer after taking the US Open in New York in 2022.
With the sun setting on the fabled careers of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, Djokovic is the player with the target on his back and Alcaraz is leading the chasing pack.
While Djokovic is enjoying a long winning streak seemingly stretching back to the beginning of time, Alcaraz has lost three of his last five matches, succumbing to Roman Safiullin in Paris, Grigor Dimitrov in Singapore and Jannik Sinner in Beijing.
But the world No.2 is top dollar when he’s enjoying peak form and it will only take a flick of a switch to return to his best. His potential is jaw-droppingly good and he is the best bet in the field to prevent Djokovic from winning the title for a record seventh time.
Alcaraz is 5/4 with bet365 to win his first match, against Zverev, in straight sets and he is 13/8 with Ladbrokes and Bet Victor to finish on top of his group. He’s also 4/1 with Sky Bet to be the last man standing.
