A huge clean-up operation is under way after violent riots broke out in Dublin city centre following a stabbing which left three children and and a woman injured.
Violent protesters clashed with Ireland’s police force An Garda Síochana, vehicles were burned and shops were looted in disturbing scenes on Thursday night.
Police confirmed 34 people have been arrested after chaos erupted in the Irish capital.
A crime scene in Parnell Square is still in lockdown after the children, aged between five and six, were stabbed near a school in the north inner city.
The knife attack took place outside Irish-speaking school Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire as children were leaving around 1.40pm on Thursday.
A public order unit was deployed in the area, as crowds of protesters gathered and bottles were thrown at officers.
Flares were ignited and a garda car set on fire by what the Irish Garda commissioner calls a ‘complete lunatic faction driven by far-right ideology’.
