New York City’s mayor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman he worked with 30 years ago.

Mayor Eric Adams was hit with the legal action under the Adult Survivors Act, which went into effect in November 2022 and created a one-year window for sexual abuse victims to sue in federal or state courts in cases past their statue of limitations.

‘Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York,’ states the summons, according to The Messenger.

‘The claims brought here allege intentional and negligent acts and omissions for physical, psychological, and other injuries suffered as a result of conduct that would constitute sexual offenses.’

The summons informing of legal action, which is followed by a formal complaint, was only three pages long and did not provide further details on the alleged encounter.

Adams denied the allegations through a City Hall spokesperson.

‘If they ever met, he doesn’t recall it,’ the spokesperson told the news outlet.

‘But he would never do anything to physically harm another person and vigorously denies any such claim.’

The woman seeks a trial and at least $5million in damages, the filing shows.

She made the filing in state Supreme Court in Manhattan on Wednesday night, the day before the window opened up by the act closes.

Other public figures who have been sued under the act include former President Donald Trump and disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein.

The sexual assault claims are the latest problems facing Adams, a former police captain who was elected mayor in 2021.

He is subject to a federal investigation on whether he colluded with the Turkish government and accepted illegal contributions for his campaign. FBI agents raided the home of his campaign’s chief fundraiser and earlier this month seized the mayor’s phones and iPad on the street in Manhattan.

Adams has denied any wrongdoing and stated he has ‘nothing to hide’.
